The production, which is socially satirical in nature, reflects human vices - bribery, ignorance, unprincipledness and stupidity.

For the South Ossetian stage, not only the performance itself is new, but also the format of its presentation. Instead of the traditional location, the audience moved directly to the stage, making it possible to be completely immersed in what was happening.

“I wanted to work in a new way myself, and for the actors to try out a form of presenting the play that was unfamiliar to them. That’s how the idea came to seat the audience on stage so that the actors would play a comedy one step away from them,” the director noted.

He added that more than 200 years have passed since Gogol’s life, but his work does not lose its relevance.
