Longlist for the national theater award "Golden Mask" 2023
The life of the innovative director of the twentieth century Vsevolod Emilievich Meyerhold, tragically cut short in the dungeons of the NKVD, and his personality, which did not fit into the usual framework, became the impetus for the creation of this performance, the genre of which Roman Gabria defined as non-fiction.
"Meyerhold" is not only reflections on the eternal theme of "artist and power", but also an attempt to modern interpretation of Meyerhold's life story, the desire to find fateful rhymes between life and work. How does theater penetrate life and how does life become a theater? This story finds analogies in the present day.
