MY DEAR HÉLÈNE

The premiere took place on January 15 and 16  2022

St. Petersburg \  V.F. Komissarzhevskaya

A.P. Chekhov "Uncle Vanya"

“We are doing a performance based on the play by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov “Uncle Vanya”, written in 1896. The place of action is the estate of the Serebryakovs.
I would like to look at the play not in a new way, but from a different angle. And I shifted my interest directly from Uncle Vanya to Elena, the wife of Alexander Serebryakov. It seemed interesting to me to solve the plot through a woman's story, because a woman is a deep ... creation, her world is mysterious, and I am very curious as a person, first of all, to explore what happens inside and in the soul of a woman at different periods of her life.
This does not contradict the play in any way - I didn’t turn anything upside down, didn’t change anything, neither the order of the scenes, nor the storyline that is taking place - I just decided to peep through the window frames, through the door of this house for a woman: how she lives, how she experiences what is happening between the men around her, what happens to her. Therefore, I decided to call the performance “My dear Hélène”. This is actually a replica from the play "Uncle Vanya", I took it from there and put it in the title.
The main space in which the action will take place will be the large bedroom of the Serebryakov spouses. The room is not very heated, there is not much warmth in it - both in terms of energy and in terms of love. That is, the audience will not get to the performance: they will observe the life of this house, they will become witnesses of “a few days from village life”.
